Villa Evangelini is an ultimately aristocratic 19th century neo-classical mansion located in Possidonia Syros. The villa has been recently renovated, featuring authentic furniture and vintage carpets. As one enters the estate and the impressively lavish gardens and the heavy iron doors close behind, there is this astonishing feeling of being in the 19th century. The villa has been broadly featured in Greek and foreign magazines, including Condé Nast Traveller which stated about the property that is ‘among the most attractive period buildings in Posidonía… a honey-coloured house situated opposite a blue church’.
The garden yard is thoughtfully landscaped to provide many shady corners for relaxing moments and various eating and seating areas. Several outbuildings house additional bedrooms, making the villa ideal for a group of friends or a couple of families with children. There are two main buildings in the property at a distance of approx. 50 meters with a lovely open fish pond between them properly made child-proof by a metal grille under the water surface. The main residence is a traditional two-storey neoclassic building and the annexe is the old storehouse cleverly converted and tastefully decorated into a village-type residence at ground level. There is also an outdoor barbecue near the open fish-pond and a magnificent swimming pool with Roman steps and spacious terraces.
Evangelini Villa is an authentic residence with character, peaceful and bohemian yet very stylish. The all-round glass windowed conservatory is unique for relaxing and the thick stone walls keep the buildings cool in summer. All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with shower, access to spacious balconies and are fully air conditioned. Besides the spacious pool, which is serviced and cleaned on a daily basis, the outside grounds offer many relaxing corners for rest and al-fresco dining. The house keeper is attending the villa daily for a few hours and she is available for longer hours service and cooking, if desired. There is a gardener attending regularly the gardens. The garden is the strongest selling point of the residence making the outside living during summer extremely enjoyable. Palm, pine and fruit trees are all over the place calling the guests to help themselves when fruits are ripe. There are unique, over 100 years old coarse marble tables brought over from the owner family’s old tannery, to be used for dining, outdoor furniture for over 25 people, barbecue and a private swimming pool with Roman steps and spacious terraces.
