Description of Villa Firai

4 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms

Villa Firai Overview

With a vast range of facilities and a superb view of the Messinian Gulf, Villa Firai offers a wonderful welcome to the Peloponnese. Ideal for families, this 4-bedroom property on the outskirts of Mount Taygetos comes equipped with a large infinity pool, hot tub and a full-size tennis court among many other amenities.

Just a short drive from Kalamata, Villa Firai is located in the Vergas area west of the city. Its large gardens are surrounded by countryside and offer lots to enjoy on multiple levels. A large swimming pool and sun terrace are located close to an outdoor lounge area with comfy seating. Combined, this makes a great space for entertaining, but there’s much more to come. A few steps up and you have another cool terrace which is level with the upper floor of the house. Here you’ll find a grand barbecue and a spacious seating area.

A few steps further and you will discover a children’s play area and the tennis court. This striking layout really makes Villa Firai stand out – and we haven’t even gone inside yet.

The interiors are just as spectacular, with a large, open-plan lounge and dining area enjoying an amazing sea view – it also leads out to a large balcony terrace. This stylishly furnished space shares a floor with a fully equipped kitchen.

Suitable for up to eight guests, the house includes four bedrooms, each individually and colourfully styled, all with an en suite bathroom. These rooms are spread across two floors, with one in a separate annexe, attached to the house, but accessed by it's own entrance. A gym, table tennis and billiards table are also available to you, and there is air-conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout as well.

Villa Firai puts you within easy reach of Kalamata International Airport and the city itself, which has many great places to eat and good shopping. There is much more to discover along the Costa Navarino – you can easily make excursions to natural wonders like the Gialova Lagoon or the historic landmarks of Ancient Messini.

Villa Firai Location

Greece’s Costa Navarino combines spectacular beaches with lovely countryside and lots of history, and is an enchanting area to explore. You won’t find a better place to enjoy some outdoor activities, and there are many organised tours based around cycling, hiking, Nordic walking and similar. Climbing, scuba-diving, snorkelling and tennis are among the other sports you should have no trouble finding.

Perhaps an even bigger draw is the area’s many historical gems. Ancient Messini dates back to 369 BC, and its well-preserved fortification walls extend for miles. The Temple of Apollo at Bassae is one of the country’s finest examples of classical architecture, while the elaborate Palace of Nestor offers a fascinating insight into Mycenaean times. All or any of these iconic sites are well worth a visit, with some comparing Messini to the more famous Olympia. You will find the remains of an amphitheatre, stadium and mausoleum there, among others.

The area’s natural beauty is just as impressive, with lakes, waterfalls, vineyards and olive groves all contributing to a rich landscape. The Gialova lagoon is one of Europe’s most important wetlands and sees bird-lovers flocking to it, while the distinctive loop shape and sand dunes of Voidokilia Beach have led to it being called one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful.

The coastal city of Kalamata is famed for its olive production, but its culinary offering stretches much further – you will find plenty of cafés and bakeries serving up sweet Messinian specialities, and restaurants getting creative with traditional dishes of the region. The city’s castle often hosts theatrical performances and, each July, the Kalamata International Dance Festival comes to town. The city’s historic quarter also plays host to museums of archaeology and traditional Greek costume.
