Comprised of two buildings, Alexis House enjoys four beautifully finished bedroom suites. These are located in one building as well as a lounge and dining room. The other building is home to the luxurious spa. One of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor, the gorgeous Elpida Suite which sleeps up to three guests. The suite’s romantic, atmospheric bedroom offers many elements of the building’s history and boasts an incredibly high ceiling, a queen-size bed with a quality Serta hotel mattress and a lounge area with a daybed for one extra guest. Like all of the suites, guests enjoy a Nespresso coffee machine, water and tea making facilities so that you can relax in the privacy of your suite. The elegant soft tones of the room are complemented with gorgeous turquoise and coral colour pops. Television can be enjoyed with Netflix. The Sappho Suite on the first floor was the master suite of Eressos’ most important tower house in the 1850’s. It remains the master today with its magnificent views from the bedroom and lounge areas. It boasts huge, imposing windows which drown the suite in natural light. Its gold plated, acorn-themed, dramatic ceiling rose catches your eye, a reminder of the golden era of acorn trade in the 1800’s. Like the rest of Alexis House, the decor is immaculate in gorgeous, calming tones. The lounge area offers a day bed for an extra guest and refreshment facilities. You can listen to your favourite songtracks on the suite’s Sonos sound system, just as you can in the other suites. The ensuite shower room is immaculate. The brightest bedroom suite in Alexis House is The Niki Suite, with windows all around illuminating this beautifully finished space. It boasts a comfy kingsize bed, a beautiful ensuite bathroom and magnificent views over the Eressian valley, the sea and the swimming pool. The most cosy suite is the very elegant Maria Suite. It enjoys a very atmospheric living space with mountain views.

Alexis House Location

Eressos is a fabulous Lesvos location. Alexis House sits proudly in the heart of this atmospheric village brimming with ancient houses and offering the most sensational views of the surrounding valley, mountains and the sea. Further down the road, you will find Skala Eressos which combines a beautiful sandy beach, amazing waterfront restaurants and a cool, spiritual community. To arrive at Eressos, you drive through a harsh, formidable landscape between mountains until you arrive at the lush green valley with the village at the top. Skala Eressos, the birthplace of the poetess Sapho, enjoys one of the island’s best Blue Flag beaches. The sand seems to go on for miles, and the water is crystal clear. Windsurfing, paddle boats, kayaks and fun inflatables are available. The streets close to the beach are closed to cars. The charming, atmospheric restaurants and cafes enjoy bamboo covered decks that extend out into the sand. Bike riding is popular in the resort, as well as horseback and donkey riding. Close by, you will discover a delightful spring-fed lake full of turtles, frogs, fish, birds and storks. The valley is green and fertile with trails and paths that pass small farms, orchards, tiny churches, ancient ruins and much wildlife. The small harbour supplies the village with plenty of fresh fish, including shrimp, sardines, red mullet, tuna and swordfish. You will find lots of interesting art and sculptures in the shops and cafes as well as some seriously impressive graffiti art. On the other side of the harbour, you will find a rocky beach ideal for snorkelling. There are also archaeological sites, including the Cave of the Poetess Sapho and the ancient Church of St Andrew.

One of Lesvos’ most famous attractions is close to the villa, the Petrified Forest. The Petrified Forest is a rare natural site that was officially declared a natural monument in 1985. It was petrified because of the intense volcanic activity of the area. The Museum of the Petrified Forest was founded in 1994 to research, promote, display, preserve and protect the unique forest.

The beautiful island of Lesvos is awash with gorgeous scenery, medieval castles, ancient monuments, charming villages and plenty of museums. The most famous museum is The World of Ouzo Museum which is situated in Isidoros Arvanitis in a fabulous olive grove, just a few minutes from the village of Plomari. The distillery has been going for more than 120 years and exports its delicious ouzo to more than 30 countries around the world. Visitors can taste and buy the ouzo. Other fascinating museums include the Archaeological Museum of Mytilene, the Iakovidis Digital Museum and The Vranas Olive Press Museum in Kaloni. This is housed in a beautiful industrial building built by Nikolaos Vranas, the grandfather of the poet Odysseas Elytis.
Lesvos’ hot springs, health-inducing spas are dotted around the island. Many have been used for thousands of years for rheumatism, arthritis, gynaecological and dermatological ailments as well as kidney and gallstones, neurological ailments, bronchitis and sciatica. The main locations are Efthalia, Thermes and Gera. The island’s landscape is rugged with mountains and lush forests. If you visit the island in the spring, you will be rewarded with one of the most amazing displays of wildflowers and wild birds you will ever see. Lesvos is a major stop in the migration routes of European birds coming from Africa. Although there are many birdwatching spots around the island, the most famous is the salt lakes close to Kalloni, in the centre of the island. The island is renowned for its high-quality olive oil as well as its ouzo. Lesvos is sprinkled with many picturesque villages. The village of Molyvos is a must visit for its spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. An imposing medieval castle sits above the village where it used to protect the village from invasions. You can take some lovely boat excursions from Molyvos. The ancient walls of Molyvos were once besieged by Archilles himself. Other pretty villages include Mytilene, Agiossos and Skala Sikamias. The seaside town of Sigri is very popular, a remote outpost of Greek island tourism. Other attractions include the Castle of Mytilene, the Monastery of Saint Raphael, the Ipsilou Monastery, The Ancient Theatre of Lesvos and the Roman Aqueduct, which dates from the 3rd century AD. The Castle of Mytilene was originally built in medieval times but has undergone many transformations by the Genovese and the Turks.
The 23 beaches of Lesvos are usually small pebbled bays, some totally secluded even in high season. The stunning Vatera Beach is as long as many of the Cyclades islands themselves. Vatera, Petra and Molyvos beaches offer excellent watersports and are organised with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. You could almost fit any of the Cyclades islands in the Bay of Kaloni.
