1 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms

Assos Waterfront Overview

Are you seeking a honeymoon haven or relaxing couples retreat? One-bedroomed Assos Waterfront on the beautiful Ionian island of Kefalonia is your go to. Of all the Ionian Islands, Kefalonia is one of the most alluring, tempting travellers with its stunning landscapes where mountain gorges meet sandy paradisal beaches.

This luxury villa, is as its name suggests, set in the midst of it all, overlooking the sparkling sea. Top features include a private outdoor swimming pool as well as a tranquil terrace area and elegant contemporary cool décor – and all you have to do is put up your feet and relax.

By day, find your prime sunbathing spot on one of the cushioned sun loungers, day beds or bean bag chairs dotted around the swimming pool or take the short drive to Myrtos Bay where soft sandy shores meet the calm, crystal-clear sea.

By night, the villa’s al fresco dining area is set against a backdrop of scarlet hues as the magical sunset slowly disappears behind Assos castle and the tree-lined mountains. Or, you could head into the centre of Assos – a charming villa that still retains its traditional charm – and enjoys freshly-caught seafood at one of the friendly local tavernas.

When you get back cooling air conditioning, a spacious open-plan living room with comfortable sofas and chairs and your luxurious bedroom await. There’s also a fully-equipped kitchen and shower room on the ground floor. When it’s time for bed, walk up the staircase to the attic where there are a double bed and shower room, as well as plenty of wardrobe space.

Put your head back on the pillow and fall asleep to the soothing sound of the water washing over the rocks just metres below. Oh, and did we mention steps are leading directly down to the seafront too? From there, you can dive straight into the water and swim 200 metres to the nearest beach (also accessed via boat).

Assos Waterfront Location

Assos Waterfront is in the quiet and traditional village of Assos on the Ionian Island of Kefalonia. It shot to fame as a set of Louis de Bernieres' wartime novel – and later film – Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Years later, it still feels like an undiscovered secret with its serene natural setting, historic sites and a relaxed atmosphere.

Kefalonia is also renowned for its soft sandy beaches, mountain gorges and quaint harbour villages. Spend your days swimming in the crystal-clear waters, exploring the Venetian-style architecture or trying fresh local cuisine like seafood, mezes or moussaka.

The villa itself offers the perfect starting point for exploring more of this beautiful Ionian island. It’s only a short drive from must-see sights like the 15th-century Assos castle in Assos village and Myrtos bay with its picture-worthy beach that’s framed by tall cliffs – both seen from your terrace.

In Assos village, there are also verdant forests with pine and cypress trees to explore. The town is small and still retains its old-world charm with classic Ionian architecture and pretty pastel-coloured houses nestled into the steep hillside.

At the harbour, you can while away the afternoon watching fishing boats and luxury yachts mooring, while in the village square there are tavernas, shops and restaurants to dine at or do as the locals do and sip cold coffee. Assos beach is also a must visit, with its clear waters and fantastic views across the bay.

You can relax on the pebbles or swim and snorkel in the sea. From the villa, Assos village can be reached by car. The coastal route to get there is spectacular and takes in the dramatic rock formations and tranquil sea waters.

In Kefalonia, you’ll also find many intriguing caves to discover. There’s the magical underground lake of Melissanthi or Drogarati with its exquisite natural formations. You could also hop on a boat and head to the untouched coves, inlets and secluded beaches. Some tours stop off for lunch and swimming.

Or, for a dose of culture instead, head to Saint Gerasimos monastery. It’s an impressive 15th-century building that sits beneath Mount Ainos, near the villages Falgrata and Valsamata.
