The Greek coast guard located south of the island of Gavdos a sailboat with refugees and migrants which they believe is the one that made an emergency call for assistance at the European emergency number 112 earlier on Saturday.

The boat is being escorted to the port of Paleohora in Chania, Crete, by two coast guard vessels.

Authorities launched earlier a search and rescue operation after they were notified that the vessel called for help. According to the coast guard, the person who called said that he was onboard a vessel with other people and needed assistance.(Source: AMNA)
