A forest fire broke out in the Kryoneri, Attica area early on Thursday morning.

A team of 45 firefighters rushed to the woodland area, employing 15 vehicles, three aircraft and one helicopter.

Strong northern winds make the operation to contain the fire rather difficult. The fire has approached the Dionysos area, with Mayor Dionysis Zamanis calling for more firefighting aircraft because of the strong winds.

Luckily, as the mayor said on Skai radio, the fire is moving towards the ravine, away from the direction of residential areas.
