Bonhams Modern and Contemporary Greek Art sales have been a successful and eagerly anticipated feature of the London auction calendar for about fifteen years now.
As the only international auction house to hold dedicated sales of Greek art twice a year, the Bonhams Greek art team offers a carefully curated selection of first class work, from 19th century classic art to prestigious modern and contemporary pieces. Their next Greek art sale on 15 November 2017 is no exception, and presents works by legendary artists of Greece such as Ralli, Gysis, Tsarouchis, Ghika, Moralis, Fassianos, Caniaris, Takis and Chryssa.
The Bonhams Greek Art sales have been particularly popular with collectors of Greek heritage wherever they live, but over the past three or four years the appeal of Greek art has become way more international. An increasing number of American and European bidders, attracted by the opportunity to broaden their collection and invest in keenly priced high quality work, have grown the market significantly and helped to boost prices.
“Bonhams is meticulous at achieving maximum returns to their clients,” says their representative when asked why should Greek art holders work with them. “We aim to achieve the maximum return to our clients through expert cataloguing, judicious marketing, and ensuring every picture in the sale is presented to the widest possible audience.” The London-based Greek art team works closely with an extensive network of offices and representatives throughout Europe to provide the highest level of service.
While the Greek sale always take place at the Bomhams state of the art premises in London, there are previes in Athens at Image Gallery on Amalias Avenue.
