European Commission in its compliance report related to the 2nd review  expressed its concerns about the long term sustainability of the Greek debt as well as on the country’s ability to achieve high primary surpluses for the decades to come.

In addition they highlight the long term risk arising from the country’s unfavorable demographics which may weigh on long term growth rates.

The EC suggests that a combination of debt relief measure should be implemented, such as extension of maturities, grace periods and locking up interest rates at current low levels in order to ensure long term sustainability.
