The only hope of Alexis Tsipras is another proposal, formulated by Emmanuel Macron and his Economy Minister, Bruno Le Maire, says Handelsblatt.
Αccording to the German financial newspaper, Paris has suggested that Greek debt relief should be linked to the growth of the economy. If Athens is doing well, the debt will be repaid normally. If not, the repayment deadlines will be extended. However, Handelsblatt continues, the German government is skeptical about this proposal.
The report focuses on the efforts made by European Institutions to convince the International Monetary Fund to improve its forecasts on the prospects of the Greek economy and consequently to reduce the need for debt alleviation measures.
The newspaper cites a European Commission document that provides ways for faster and more efficient use of European funds allocated for Athens, better access to European funds for Greece, and greater involvement of investment banks.
