Photos of a dramatic modern villa located in a remote location in the Peloponnese has captured the attention of architects and international fans online.

The “Ypsilon Villa” was designed by LASSA, based in London and Brussels, and the architects involved in creating this unique underground villa are Teo Sarantoglu Lali and Dora Sveijd.

At first glance from an areal perspective, the villa appears to be built into the Earth, while someone driving by might mistake it for a spaceship, half covered by the ground.

The villa’s architects were inspired by the nature surrounding the home when designing the villa.

“The shaft of the covered roofs is perfectly aligned with the island of Schiza to the south and a village to the east. Another requirement was to design the layout that would activate the entire building’s periphery instead of just favoring the panoramic view of the sea,” Lalis told Dezeen.

Each area of the three bedroom, three bath villa and its yard are designed to present relaxation and tranquility to the resident throughout the different phases of the day, such as providing shade when the sun is high or allowing just the right amount of light in to enjoy your breakfast.
