According to Bild, without citing sources, Greece threatened to opt out of next payment without a debt deal if creditors cannot agree on debt relief. On Monday, Tsakalotos told a press briefing that Greece cannot “accept a deal which is not what was on the table.”

“What was on the table was if Greece carried outs its reform package then creditors would ensure that there would be a clear runway through clarity for debt,” he said.

Greek government dismissed reports

Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos has dismissed reports in Germany΄s Bild newspaper that the country could default on July debt repayments.

"Bild has distorted what I said yesterday. I never said that Greece would not repay debt in July. There is no such issue," he told Reuters.

We are not concerned about reports concealing political interest in German newspapers, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Tuesday in statements to the Athens Macedonian News Agency.

German newspaper Bild has earlier reported that Athens is planning to forego the next installment if there is no debt relief.
