Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos Friday denounced Turkey as “the beasts on the other side who murdered without even respecting the rules of war and continue to do so today.”
The remains of 17 Greek soldiers killed in the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus in 1974 were identified through DNA analysis. Kammenos, made his remarks during a visit to Cyprus to attend a formal ceremony in Nicosia marking the handover of the remains.
“It is the duty of our nation that your sacrifice becomes a legacy for future generations,” Kammenos said. Those in attendance included Greek-Cypriot leaders and relatives of the victims.
