Two Turkish jets violated Greek airspace on Tuesday during a memorial service being held for Greek fighter pilot Konstantinos Iliakis — killed in 2006 when his F-16 jet collided with a Turkish Phantom. The provocation prompted Defense Minister Panos Kammenos to lash out against the Turkish government as reported by ekathimerini.com
The Greek Defense Minister said that it was disrespectful and commented that not even the“most barbarous army in the world” would commit such an act.
The violations took place over the central Aegean and were carried out by two Turkish F-16s.
