Tragedy off Lesvos: Five Migrants Drown in Open Sea

Tragedy struck at dawn on Monday morning as a boat carrying migrants sunk north of Mithymna, between Greece and Turkey, under unclear conditions.

Five migrants were spotted drowned in the open sea near Lesvos. The victims are reportedly a small boy, two women and two men.

Greek port authorities rescued a pregnant woman who was in a state of shock and was then sent to Petra.

A search and rescue operation is in progress while there are reports of an unknown number of missing refugees.
