Forty refugee children from the migrant reception center of Schistos visited the Acropolis Museum on Thursday and were shown around the exhibits and the sculptures, the culture ministry said.

The children were welcomed by Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou and the museum’s president, Dimitris Pandermalis, who explained some of the items they were going to see. The tour was conducted by archaeologists who told the children of the daily life in ancient Athens, the Parthenon and the history of the museum.

The visit is part of the ministry’s collaboration with the Swiss cultural organization Flux Laboratory, the UN’s Refugee Agency and the International Children’s Network.
