The report says there is intense diplomatic activity so that the two state leaders have a telephone conversation in the next few days. The Greek prime minister wants to know the stance of the new U.S. president on the issues pertaining to Greece and the general region.
At the same time, preparations are being made for setting the date and location for a meeting between Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and new U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
The agenda of talks will include geo-strategic developments, Greece-Turkey relations, the refugee issue and the Greek bailout program.
Recently, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated that the Greek bailout issue is a European problem, however, he said that “we work with our European counterparts and the IMF to resolve it,” adding that the U.S. wants the participation of the International Monetary Fund in the Greek bailout program.
