The town of Oraiokastro in northern Greece has been the scene of anti-refugee protests by the Patriotic Union of Greek Citizens of Oraiokastro outside of the 1st Elementary School where refugee children are attending classes. The members of the group even chained themselves to the gates of the school in attempts to block the refugee children from entering the premises. On Tuesday however, the scene was a very different one, as locals gathered in support of the refugee children.

Local groups organized a peaceful gathering in support of the refugee children attending school with local children, holding up banners which read “We accept refugees, isolate the fascists,” ANSAmed reports.

This is the second peaceful rally held by the locals who marched through the town holding their banners in defiance of xenophobia and hate.
