A French man has been arrested in Thessaloniki by Greek police for allegedly abusing four migrant boys who he was accommodating in his home.

Reuters reported that the migrant boys were Pakistani natives and aged between 14 and 17-years-old. The French native had offered them shelter at his home as they were homeless. They had been residing with him since January.

Police have uncovered that the French man had “presented himself as a volunteer to various organizations helping refugees,” the news agency reported.

The man appeared in court and was charged with sexual abuse and possession and use of drugs.

Police first learned of the sexual abuse when one of the boys was recently housed in a migrant youth shelter and told a staff member that he and the other boys had been abused.
