A new opinion poll for Stern magazine shows that 52 percent of Germans are in favor of Greece leaving the euro zone.

According to the poll conducted by Forsa Research Institute, more than half of Germans (52 percent) are in favor of a Grexit, while 42 percent believe Greece should stay in the common currency bloc. Also, in favor of a Grexit are 75 percent of supporters of the nationalist party Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Also, 53 percent of German citizens believe that it would be right that Germany stops giving financial assistance to Greece, while 40 percent are in favor of its continuation.

Regarding the issue of Greek debt easing, 45 percent of respondents believe that the country needs some debt relief, while 47 percent are against the notion.

It should be noted that in a similar poll conducted a year ago in Germany, only 33 percent of respondents were in favor of a Grexit.
