The German govt spokeswoman announced on Friday that the German Chancellor will be hosting the IMF Director and the EC President in separate meetings on Wednesday. According to AMNA, the announcement follows a recent report by Der Spiegel suggesting that the IMF has agreed to contribute EUR5bn in the 3rd package, thus remaining fully engaged in the program.

A similar report on Die Welt last Thursday was contending that the IMF Director has agreed to keep the IMF involved in the program, pushing the discussion on debt relief to 2018, well after the German elections.

In this context of ongoing backstage discussions for the resolution of the deadlock in the Greek program, the German FinMin echoed an unusually supportive message for Greece suggesting the country “is on the right path” while dismissing claims he has undermined a Greek deal pushing for Greece’s exit from the euro zone.
