The “Greek Freak” scored a team-high 30 points and gave spectators their money’s worth by pounding home some fantastic dunks in the Western Conference all-stars 192-182 victory over the East on Sunday.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo shined at the Smoothie King Center. The Greek player was impressive with 14-of-17 shooting on layups and dunks. He only missed a single three-pointer attempt, and managed to reach the 30-point mark, the most scored by a Bucks player in an NBA All-Star Game. Antetokounmpo also had six rebounds, three steals and one assist while playing 23 minutes.

In the third quarter, Antetokounmpo went over Stephen Curry for a rebound slam — one that left Curry staring at the scoreboard for a replay.

In the game analysis, ESPN wrote about the Greek NBA phenomenon: “Through three periods, Antetokounmpo’s 28 points led the East and were third overall behind (Anthony) Davis and (Russell) Westbrook, giving him a shot at winning MVP in his All-Star debut. Sadly, by the time he got back on the court, there was just 1:15 remaining. Twelve of Antetokounmpo’s 14 field goals were dunks, including several steals he turned into pick-sixes (one of them with Curry memorably laying down instead of risking getting posterized). Later, Curry couldn’t avoid getting dunked on when Antetokounmpo went over him for a tip. The Greek Freak also blocked Davis, the eventual MVP, from behind early in the game.”

“I was just having fun. I told the coaches I’m going to play hard, no matter what. The guys talked to me a lot and they said, ‘Your first shot has to be a layup so you can get in a rhythm.’ So that’s what I did,” Antetokounmpo said after the game.

Antetokounmpo said that none of the West players were mad at him for being aggressive.

“They weren’t mad at me. I think even the West team knows me as a player. What I do every night, no matter what type of game it is, I’m going to play hard. I know my teammates were happy, so that’s all that matters,” the Greek player said.
